We decided to use the tried & tested Joomla! for our CMS (Content Management System), which is a software system that allows us to create and manage the entire website remotely, by signing in from anywhere there’s access to the web.
And because we used a popular CMS, we were able to offer Ardagh Glass considerable cost savings over developing a CMS from scratch ourselves. Of course, there’s always a trade off, but Joomla! is extremely flexible — you can add components (very similar to Plugins in WordPress, for example) that are small applications in their own right — which allow you to extend and customize Joomla! to your own needs.
We now have a website that can be managed from any location by a number of key personnel, as well ourselves. Additionally, the website is now flexible and adaptable enough to meet with Ardagh’s growing needs:
