Emily Cagle is a marketing and communications consultant with a proven track record in planning and executing effective campaigns for both corporate and consumer-facing businesses as well as individuals.
The last word in professional business marketing
To that end, the Emily Cagle Communications website needed to reflect the depth of talent and professionalism that Emily possesses, which we worked to reinforce via her PR and writing blog, where she’s able demonstrate her talents, raise awareness and serve her clients more actively.
We decided to use WordPress for our CMS (Content Management System), which is a software system that allows us to remotely create and manage articles for the blog, by signing in from anywhere there’s access to the web.
WordPress is also extremely flexible, allowing us to use Plugins (special software objects that add different functions) to make our version of WordPress more search engine friendly.
Emily was keen to make the most of her knowledge of social media. So it was essential that we build a long-term social media marketing strategy, to help keep her blog at the forefront of her own marketing efforts.
The benefits of a website and a blog
There are some very clear advantages to a having a company blog. Also, there are so many different opportunities that Emily can now fulfill, some of which she is now beginning to explore through her blog:
- Ready for social media » visitors can easily share articles on social networks like Twitter and Facebook, as well as subscribing to updates via RSS or email.
- Highly flexible » we can adapt both the website and the blog very quickly, to meet Emily’s needs precisely.
- Visual impact » there’s a lot to be said for a strong, unique design style.
What we achieved
- A simplified approach
The new design and layout are very clean, clear and simple, all of which makes it very easy for the visitor to find what they’re looking for. - Complete integration
The website and the blog are seamlessly integrated, so that articles from the blog flow into the website, while the web pages for all of the services are readily available from within the blog. - A strong identity
Emily has a unique website all her own, with huge growth potential. The visual identity is now in lock step with her own talents.
Conclusion
Emily found Octane via my ebook, The Beginner’s Guide to Social Media, which prompted a wonderful testimonial:
“I had been reading Wayne’s Blah, Blah! Technology blog for a few months when I decided it was time to have my website redesigned. I was happy with the copy, but I wanted a fresh look and additional functionality. I decided to contact Wayne because I was looking for more than just a web designer; I wanted to work with someone who understood how people think and react when they use the internet and who could translate that into an effective website. Wayne’s blogs, alongside the existing case studies on the Octane Interactive website, convinced me that he was the man for the job.
From day one, Wayne was extremely professional, always reliable and endlessly creative; coming up with practical solutions to my sometimes difficult requests and always keeping me informed of how the project was moving along. I now feel I have a website that performs brilliantly for me and my clients, and certainly attracts a lot of praise.
One of the defining features of Wayne’s service is the advice and guidance he provides, which has allowed me to make the most of the new website’s functionality. I will continue to work with Wayne in the future and would not hesitate to recommend his services to others.”
