Octane is a business I started in June 1999, where I began with web design, development, and hosting, in addition to 3D animation, video production, brand and print design, before moving onto web application development and project management.
What does Octane do?
A major part of what I have done — and continue to do — is provide a consultation service to SMEs, helping them with digital transformation and growth strategies.
I’m as comfortable at the front of the boardroom giving a presentation to dozens of executives as I am in the code, at the command line, or designing a website.
Octane Interactive Limited is VAT registered, and has liability insurance.
Where is Octane based?
Octane is based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, making us quite central to a number of major towns & cities, such as Sheffield, Doncaster, Huddersfield, Rotherham, Wakefield, and Leeds.
About Wayne Smallman
My name is Wayne Smallman, and I’m the Managing Director and principal founder of Octane Interactive Limited. I’ve been in the design and new media industries since the mid nineties.
I’ve been a PHP developer since 2002, and began using CodeIgniter (1 then 2) before making the switch to Laravel (4 then 5) and Vue 2, in addition to full stack development in JavaScript. I’ve also been a WordPress developer for at least the last decade, with experience building templates, writing plugins, and widgets.
I love what I do. It’s as simple as that. That pleasure in what I do is key to the quality of the service my clients get from me.
In recent times, I’ve launched a startup, the Under Cloud, designed to improve how journalists and academics capture research — creating notes, saving web pages, tweets and videos, linking them together to create narratives of their learning process.
I’ve written for a number of business publications, including the FSBs First Voice magazine, among others.
